My experience here was amazing! Our server, Sue, was incredible. She’s attentive, fun and made sure we were well taken care of. Also the drinks were wonderful, the bartender, Maria, made our drinks so fast and they were all with fresh juice that wasn’t sweet at all. Also the food was out of this world. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a place where everything was great. Highly recommend!!

You can barely make them out underneath the mozzarella and chopped lettuce, but the tasteful, hot soft tacos peeking from underneath that giant heap were loaded with delicious Caribbean shrimp! The Tacos de Madre, Tamale (with jalapeños and cheese) and the House rice with corn were all that we could fill our ‘barriguita’ with.
The prices were spot on for all of the wonderful local patrons and tourists. As you can see from the photographs, the ambience, both inside and out was tops! But the best I save for last was the warm welcome, service and the smiles of everyone from La Madre. ‘I’ll be back’!

Bookmark this place. During our first trip to Puerto Rico this place was packed and we didn't have the time to wait for a table. Luckily on our second trip we were able to go at a time that wasn't so busy. This is some good eating! This is one of those restaurants that just has good home cooked food that has a unique feel to it. It manages to avoid the commonplace vibes you would get at most Mexican restaurants. My wife who is very picky loves this place. So for another reason, that makes them a cut above the rest.

I’ve stopped at La Madre every time I’ve visited San Juan and I am always impressed. The service is great and they always make sure to try to fit you in even during busy times. Our server Eileen was kind and gave great recommendations making it an even more memorable experience. The steak was seasoned well and the corn was delicious. Try the fried cheesecake dessert!!! Not pictured because I think we ate it within two minutes of sitting at the table.

From start to finish, this is an amazing spot. Rubi was our waitress, a lovely kind person, and she had bang on recommendations. Started with the Ahi tuna tacos, and a salad. Both were fresh and tasty. I had a burrito with steak and my husband had the pork belly tacos, which he said were life-changing! Ended it off with a delicious croissant pudding with ice cream, which we didn’t need after all that food but… you only live once I guess! Don’t sleep on this place. It is actually spectacular.
